Google’s algorithms are the complex system which used to retrieve data from its search engine index and deliver instantly the best relevant results for a query which entered by users.
Google make thousands of small changes in search engine every year for making better search engine results that call “Google Algorithm Updates”
Google rolls out 10 major algorithm updates that I explained in short details: –
Launch Date: 24 February 2011.
Effects: Duplicate, Low Quality, and thin Content.
About the Update: Google Panda update is a major change on Google’s search results ranking. It was released in February 2011. Aim of this change was lower the rank of “low-quality sites” or “thin content sites and return higher-quality sites the top of the search results.
Launch Date: 24 April 2012.
Effects: Spammy or irrelevant links, links with over-optimized anchor text
About the Update: Google Penguin is second big Google algorithm update It was released on 24 April 2012. The aim of this update was decreasing the rankings of websites that violate Google’s Webmaster Guidelines by using “black-hat SEO” techniques.

Effects: Keyword Stuffing and Low-Quality Content
About the Update: Hummingbird is the codename given to a significant algorithm change in Google Search that was announced on 26 September 2013. Its name was taking from the speed and search relevancy of the hummingbird. It was places greater emphasis on natural language search queries, considering context and meaning over individual keywords. It also looks searching at content on pages of a website, with improved ability to direction users directly to the most relevant page.

About the Update: This update was released on 24 July 2014. The aim of that update was increasing the ranking of local listing in a search engine result page. Its effect on the search results which shown on Google Maps along with the regular search results. It released first in US English and then released in other languages and locations. About the Update: It call also Mobilegeddon algorithm update. It was released on 21 April 2015. This update effected and give the priority to that websites which display well on smartphones. This update not effect on searches made by the desktop or laptop.

About the Update: It was a machine learning-based algorithm update, It launched by Google on 26 October 2015. The main purpose of this update was helps search engine to process search results and give the best relevant search results for users. It was the third most important algorithm update along for the ranking with links and content.

About the Update: It was an important algorithm update to Google’s local search which rolled out on the 1st of September 2016. It was Businesses listing based update which increase the ranking of the Google Local Pack listing. Before lolling out this update google filtered listings linking with the same website and using the same phone number. After launched this update, listings get filtered. If any business listing has same address and same categories though they not belong to different businesses. So, if several doctors share the same location, then Google will show only one of them.

Effects: Thin, affiliate-heavy or ad-centered content
About the Update: It was a series of mysterious Google algorithm updates that launched on 8 March 2017. It was big impact on the search engine rankings of websites in worldwide. It was targets black-hat technique tied to aggressive monetization for overload on ads, low-value content, and little added user benefits. By Fred update that websites affected that give majority to large number of ads and created for the purpose of generating ads revenue over solving a user’s problem.

About the Update: Broad Core algorithm update is the important update in Google search which loll out on 24th September 2019. The main purpose of this update was to make search engine results better and relevant to the search queries which entered by the users. That effected those websites which have lack of quality content.
10. BERT Update (Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers)
Launch Date: 9 December 2019
Effects: language understanding, conversational queries
About the Update: Google roll out of BERT Update in Google Search across 70 languages on 9 December 2019. The main purpose of this update was improvements in language understanding, particularly for natural language and conversational queries, as It help better to understand the words in Searches and better adjustment queries with useful results.
